Why we don’t believe in New Years Resolutions
Around new year it is typical to hear about people’s New Years resolutions. The plans to start the diet, go to the gym, read a chapter of a book every night etc. No doubt you have seen these posts and know what we are talking about.
We don't believe in new year resolutions. We don’t believe that anything particularly magical happens when the hand moves from 11:59pm to 12am. The reason why New Years resolutions arise is because people like a new start. The idea of a blank page, a fresh canvas. The possibilities seem endless.
We don’t believe in new years resolutions but we do however believe in new year as a time to plan for the year ahead. To set some goals and aspirations. We take the time to really think about what we want to achieve in the coming year. We don’t just do this once a year though. You can do this at any point during the year. A blank page is always available to you. All you have to do is choose to think of it as a fresh start. You can decide right now, whenever you are reading this, that today is a fresh start. Right this minute, you can decide to choose to start afresh and set new goals.
You can leave it up to fate and get swept along by life, or you can be intentional and think about the life you want to create.
We know which option we would choose…………
